Natural Medicine Facilitator in Training (NMIT) Consultation FAQs

  • A psychedelic facilitator consultation group provides ongoing supervision and skill development for both clinical and non-clinical practitioners working in psychedelic-assisted therapy. Our consultation group in Colorado meets every two weeks for 1.5-hour sessions where facilitators develop non-directive skills, discuss ethical challenges, and learn from diverse perspectives through role-plays and experiential exercises. This format satisfies Colorado Natural Medicine Health Act (NMHA) supervision requirements while building practical facilitation competencies.

  • The consultation group costs $75 per 1.5-hour session. A sliding scale is available for training facilitators upon request.

  • Sessions meet every other week for 1.5 hours. If the group collectively decides, we can shift to weekly meetings to accommodate more intensive supervision needs or accelerate skill development.

  • The consultation group is led by Clayton Ickes, Colorado's first licensed natural medicine clinical facilitator, Licensed Social Worker, and founder of Kykeon Wellness. Clay's path began at age 18 when a battle with substance use led to his first psychedelic experience, an encounter that transformed addiction into a meditation practice and ignited a 12-year commitment to the psychedelic phenomenon. With over 150 journeyers served through psychedelic experiences, he specializes in trauma treatment and brings both clinical expertise and deep lived understanding to his facilitation and consultation work.

Clay's professional journey spans research, education, and clinical practice. He began working in the psychedelic field professionally in 2017 as a night attendant on the MAPS MDMA Therapist Training Study, followed by roles as President of the National Board of Psychedelic Club and Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Program Coordinator at Naropa University. His experiential training includes a three-year ayahuasca apprenticeship, while his clinical expertise encompasses Psychedelic-Assisted Somatic Therapy (Innate Path), Internal Family Systems (IFS Institute), EMDR (EMDRIA Approved), Clinical Psilocybin Facilitation (InnerTrek), and Psychedelic Harm Reduction (Zendo). Clay has served as a Sitter with the Zendo Project since 2019 and now acts as a Supervisor and shift-lead. In 2023 he began working as a facilitator full-time doing individual work as an approved facilitator with Psychedelic Passage and group work as lead facilitator at Ceremonia's multi-day retreats Today, he operates a private practice providing psilocybin-assisted therapy and leading consultation groups that bridge clinical rigor, traditional plant medicine wisdom, and the compassionate, grounded presence he has cultivated over more than a decade of dedicated practice.
